Peter Silvien

Peter has been exploring the nature of inner life, consciousness, and healing for over five decades. He currently works as therapist, coach and mentor using IFS and other healing modalities.

His curiosity began in childhood and has taken many forms over the years: from an early fascination with hypnosis, through his work in IT and systems theory and later with deaf people and British Sign Language, to decades of meditation, exploration of shamanic healing, and study of diverse psychotherapeutic approaches

What drew him most strongly toward IFS was its recognition of Self as something more than a cognitive idea. After years of experiencing Self as an embodied, relational presence through meditation, he found in IFS a framework that finally gave language to something he had long sensed but had found missing from other therapeutic models.

Peter came across IFS in 2020 and soon after trained with Derek Scott, founder of IFSCA, through his ‘Stepping Stones’ and other programs – an experience that led to close friendships and an ongoing involvement with the IFS community. He maintains a particular interest in “helping the helpers” through mentoring and consultation.

His work is informed by a lifelong fascination with story, metaphor, imagery, and the many ways human beings can experience and make meaning of their inner worlds. This combination of personal exploration, therapeutic practice, and curiosity about the many forms an inner life can take is central to his developing work with Inner Landscapes.
